Inspired by the magic created in the garden, Sow The Magic's tarot-inspired seed packets hold organic, non-GMO, and open-pollinated or heirloom seeds that you can plant (along with your intentions) and watch grow into beautiful blooms.  

Each envelope contains 15 seeds — see below for individual varieties, each sold separately. All Sow The Magic seeds are sustainably sourced by reputable seed stewards in the USA.

 

Black Velvet Nasturtium: Inspired by the Five of Pentacles, this packet contains seeds of Tropaeolum Minus (aka Black Velvet Nasturtium), an edible annual with striking dark red / ruby-black flowers. Add unique color to your garden and attract bees with this deer & rabbit-resistant beauty! (Sow outdoors 1-2 weeks after last frost date. Requires full sun to part shade and regular, well-draining soil. 10-12" height.)

The Sunflower (Ring of Fire): Inspired by The Sun in the Major Arcana, this packet contains seeds of Helianthus Annuus, an annual sunflower with tall, striking flowers. This variety features dark-centered blooms that measure 4-5" across and gradually fade from a dark red base to golden-yellow tips. (Sow outdoors after last frost. Requires full sun and rich, well-drained soil. 60-72" height.)

The Empress Bee: Inspired by the Empress card, this packet contains seeds of Phacelia Tanacetifolia, an annual that bears subtle purple-blue flowers with curved spikes and attracts several types of bees. This plant is commonly called Bienen-freund, German for “bee’s friend.” (Sow outdoors in early spring, when soil is cool and light frost is still possible. Requires full sun and damp or dry soil. 24" height.)

Lavender Lovers (Lavender Hyssop): Inspired by the Lovers card, this packet contains seeds of Agastache foeniculum (aka Lavender Hyssop), a perennial herb that provides an abundance of purple flower spikes on top of dark green foliage. Hyssop emits a calming fragrance and makes an excellent cut flower. (Start indoors or direct sow as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Requires part shade with no intense midday heat and light, quick-draining soil. 18-36" height.)

The Poppy Star: Inspired by The Star in the Major Arcana, this packet contains seeds of Papaver Somniferum (aka Chima Poppy), a stunning annual with intense pink to red petals and beautiful double blooms. (Sow outdoors in early spring, when the soil is still cool and light frost is possible. Requires full sun and rich, well-drained soil. 30-36" height.)

Diablo Cosmos: Inspired by the Devil card, this packet contains seeds of Artemisia Vulgaris (aka cosmos), a hairy-stemmed flower with yellow & orange daisy-like blooms that can last more than four weeks. These plants attract butterflies and hummingbirds and are easy to grow. (Sow outdoors just before last frost, or start indoors 4-6 weeks earlier. Requires full sun  and well-draining soil. 2-4 height.)

Strength in Echinacea: Inspired by the Strength card, this packet contains seeds of Echinacea Purpurea, a showy perennial that attracts bees, butterflies, and birds. It's a striking addition to the late summer landscape, blooming heavily from July through September. (Sow outdoors just before last frost. Requires full or partial sun  and rich, well-draining soil. 2-4' height.)

White Marigold: Inspired by the Ace of Wands, this creamy white marigold signifies the birth of an idea that has immense potential for growth and manifestation. This variety is a labor of love from Alice Vonk of Sully, Iowa: she sent her seeds for 21 years to Burpee to win the “whitest marigold seed contest,” and in 1975, was awarded the coveted prize for her work! (Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before planting outside and transplant out after danger of frost, or direct seed after last frost when soil is warm. Requires full sun. 20-36" height.)

Blue Berries Cherry Tomato: Inspired by the Magician card, this packet contains seeds of Solanum Lycopersicum Annual, a colorful, compact variety of tomato. This sprawling plant yields large quantities of 1/2" fruit that ranges from dark purple to red and is luscious, sweet, and flavorful. (Start indoors 6 weeks before last frost, or sow outdoors in areas with particularly long growing seasons. Requires full sun and sandy, well-drained soil. Use a cage, stake, or trellis for support.)

Scarlet Kale:  Inspired by the Hanged Manthis packet contains seeds of Brassica Oleracea, a colorful curled kale that responds to hot weather by deepening its red hue. A unique and delicious addition to salads, juices and soups, this vibrant annual is produced from 2-3 foot tall stalks. (Sow in full sun in early spring or in midsummer for fall crop. Requires fertile soil and full sun.) 

Moon + Stars Watermelon: Inspired by the Eight of Cups, this packet contains seeds of Citrullus Lanatus, an annual that provides delicious fruit with sweet pink flesh and black seeds. Its fruit reaches about 15" long and weighs 10-16 lbs. (Sow outdoors after last frost when the soil has warmed, or start indoors 4 weeks earlier. Requires full sun and light-textured soil.)

Mexican Sour Gherkin: Inspired by the Two of Cups, this packet contains seeds of Melothria Scabra, a unique mini cucumber that offers an unconventional tangy citrusy flavor. This annual plant produces grape-sized cucumber-like fruits that form on a sprawling, small leaved vine. (Sow after last frost. Requires full sun and fertile soil.)

Jack Be Little Pumpkin: Inspired by the Three of Wands, this packet contains seeds of Cucurbita Pepo, a bush variety of miniature pumpkin that works perfectly in smaller growing spaces and can thrive in fluctuating climates. They bear bright orange pumpkins that are approximately  3-4" wide and 2" tall. (Sow outdoors once the soil has warmed to 70 degrees. Requires full sun and fertile, well-draining soil.)

Cayenne Pepper: Inspired by The Fool, these peppers will spice up your journey with their energizing heat! Often referred to as the spicy healer, these nutrient-rich annuals are popular for drying and using as a spice, and can be used medicinally for improved digestion and a healthy heart. (Start indoors in bright light 8-12 weeks before last frost date. Requires full sun and well draining, fertile soil. 24” height.)

Chocolate Mint: Inspired by the Ten of Cups, this packet contains seeds of Mentha Piperita (aka Chocolate Mint), a perennial herb with a bright, refreshing chocolatey-peppermint flavor. (Start indoors and transplant outdoors in late spring, or sow outdoors just before last spring frost. Requires full sun to partial shade and average, well-drained soil. 12-24" height.)

Dark Opal Basil: Inspired by the Judgement card, this packet contains seeds of Ocimum Basilicum (aka Dark Opal basil), an annual herb that enhances both culinary dishes and garden beds with its beautiful deep purple color and aromatic properties. (Sow outdoors 4-6 weeks after last frost, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting. Requires full sun and rich, well-drained soil. 12-18" height.)

Broadleaf Sage: This packet contains seeds of Salvia Officinalis (aka common sage), a perennial herb that produces dusty green-grey foliage and mauve flowers and has a long history of medicinal and culinary uses. (Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, or sow outdoors after last spring frost. Requires full sun and well-drained soil. 12-24" height.) 

Garden Thyme: Inspired by the creative, nurturing energy of the Queen of Cups, Thymus vulgaris (aka garden thyme) is associated with the water element's loving energy and the planet Venus. Thyme was also believed to impart strength and fortitude by the ancient Greeks. (Start indoors and transplant outside once danger of frost has passed. Requires full sun and loamy, well-draining soil. 6-12" height.)

Lemon Balm: Inspired by The Hierophant, Melissa officinalis (aka lemon balm) is a wonderful teacher, as it's easy to grow with its bountiful supply of lemon-kissed leaves. Known for a multitude of healing properties in the herbal community, this plant can be used in teas and as a culinary seasoning. (Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost or outside after danger of frost has passed. Requires full or partial sun and rich, well-draining soil. 24" height.) 

Stinging Nettle: Inspired by the Six of Wandsthis packet contains seeds ofUrtica Dioica, a hardy perennial that has many uses as a powerful medicinal herb (perfect for a nutrient-packed tea) and kitchen companion. Grows to be 24" - 36" tall. (Sow directl outdoors in the late fall so seeds can freeze through the winter. These plants can be invasive, so it’s best to contain to a desired area and not let them go to seed. Always wear gloves when working with this plant.)
